New Plant City Courthouse

Plans are currently underway for a new two story 60,000 square foot courthouse in Plant City that was originally scheduled to begin in July of 2009. The new Plant City Courthouse could open as early as the summer of 2011.

The new courthouse will be located in the grassy parking area across the street from the current Plant City Courthouse located at 302 N. Michigan Avenue, which is right next to the Plant City Service Center for the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). The current plans for the new courthouse include four courtrooms which would provide enough room for jury selection and jury trials in criminal cases. Felony cases are not currently heard in Plant City because of lack of inmate holding facilities.
