Leslie Sammis has focused her entire career on criminal defense. She graduated from the University of Florida College of Law (UF) with Honors in 1999. Leslie completed internships with the State Attorney's Office prosecuting felony offenses, the United States Attorney's Office in Tampa assisting federal prosecutors, and a federal judicial internship with the Honorable Henry Lee Adams, Jr., United States District Judge, for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. As a former Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, Leslie has represented thousands of clients in misdemeanor, juvenile and felony divisions. Since entering private practice, Leslie has continued her focus on criminal and DUI defense.

Jason Sammis graduated from the University of Virginia in 1996, and from the University of Florida College of Law in 1999. While at the University of Florida College of Law, Jason was a member of the prestigious Florida Law Review. Jason was also elected the Vice-Chair and then Chair of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Board. Jason is admitted to the state bars of Florida and Georgia, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle District of Georgia, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, and the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Eleventh Circuit. Jason focuses on criminal and DUI defense.

Jenny Thomas graduated from the University of Findlay in 1998 and from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, FL, in 2004. While she was attending law school, Jenny completed an internship at the Alaska Public Defender's Agency, worked as a certified legal intern at the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County and at the Gulf Port Legal Services in the Tampa Bay area. While in law school Ms. Thomas was honored with the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award, a Nominee for Inclusion in The National Dean’s List, and served as a Public Service Fellow from 2002-2004. After law school, Jenny began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County, FL, where she worked from 2005 until 2009. While at the public defender's office, Jenny Thomas successfully represented clients in misdemeanor and felony cases including serious drug trafficking, armed robbery, home invasion burglary and felony weapons offenses.

Adneris "Adi" Cruz-Guevara is paralegal / legal assistant who speaks Spanish fluently. Throughout the client's pending case, Adneris plays an integral role at the Sammis Law Firm by coordinating all court appearance and administrative hearings, scheduling client meetings, and managing the administrative tasks in the office while the attorneys are in court. Adneris graduated from the University of Tampa in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Criminology. After obtaining her college degree, Adneris has focused her career as a paralegal / legal assistant in the criminal justice field. Being fluent in Spanish allows Adneris to assist our Spanish speaking clients throughout their case. Adneris has also obtained an Paralegal Degree approved by the American Bar Association.

Laurel Whiteside is a legal assistant at the Sammis Law Firm. Laurel is primarily responsible for the administrative duties in DUI and other serious driving offenses including requesting the formal review hearing and obtaining the 42 driving permit. She is also responsible for coordinating the formal review hearing and obtaining a subpoena for each witness. Laurel also drafts the initial pleadings and schedules the court dates for motions to suppress or motions to dismiss. In addition to DUI cases, Laurel is primarily responsible for administrative tasks related to other serious traffic related offenses and assisting the client in sealing or expunging a criminal record if eligible at the end of the case.
